1. Why is Freshies better than
other mixes?
Freshies mixes use fresh
vegetables and herbs instead of
concentrates and dried
ingredients. They don't
contain any artificial colors,
preservatives, or flavors.
They are the only mixes out of a
bottle that contain the same
components of a mix you would
make at home. They also
have a couple of ingredients
that you won't find in any other
mixes: freshly shaved
horseradish, dijon mustard,
fresh dill, fresh pepper mash,
fresh lime juice, and fresh
lemon juice, just to name a few.
2. Wasn't the product line
originally called "Bridal Veil"?
The product line was originally
named after Bridal Veil Falls,
the waterfall just outside
Telluride, Colorado (where the
mixes originated). The
original waterfall on the label
was reminiscent of the fresh,
Rocky Mountain water of Bridal
Veil Falls. Today, the
label presents the fresh
vegetable letter logo
representative of the fresh
products within the bottles.
The line has since been known as
Freshies.

3. How can the mixes be
all-natural?
Because Freshies Food
Corporation takes pride in using
only fresh vegetables, juices,
and herbs for all the mixes,
Freshies is considered
all-natural by accounts such as
Wild Oats, Alfalfa's, and select
Whole Foods. The Bloody
Mary mixes do contain "caramel
color", an ingredient that is
considered artificial by the
FDA; however, the caramel color
is derived entirely from burnt
sugar, so natural foods stores
do not consider it artificial.

4. Why should I buy Freshies
mixes?
As
with many things in life, you
get what you pay for. The
Freshies product line is a
premium, gourmet cocktail mix
brand. It contains fresh
vegetables, herbs, and juices,
and each bottle is meticulously
made from scratch. The
label itself displays the
quality image in which the
company takes pride. Just
as with single malt scotches or
microbrews, premium products are
hand-crafted and a better value
for your dollar than their
mass-produced industrial
counterparts.

5. How did Freshies the company
start?
Bridal Veil Bloody Mary mix was the house mix of the Swede-Finn Hall, a restaurant in Telluride, Colorado. Ian Gustin and Colin Wells created the mix when they were working as the head chef and bar manager, respectively. The two wanted to make a different Bloody Mary mix that would attract Bloody Mary aficionados. There was such tremendous response from people who tried the mix that the two of them decided to put it in a bottle and sell it.
Since the inception of Freshies Food Corporation in 1994, the product line has expanded to currently 12 different flavors and 4 cocktail rimming products, with many more coming. New flavors in development include Margarita and Mojito variations, seasonal offerings, and Top Secret Formulations.

6. What is the story behind the
name "Freshies"?
"Freshies" is a term that
describes fresh tracks (the
first turns that a skier makes
in the snow on a powder day).
Ian and Colin named their
company Freshies in honor of
those first turns. They
realized, however, that the name
of their company also applied to
their corporate image as time
went on: fresh ingredients
without the use of artificial
colors or preservatives.
You will notice that the logo
incorporates this image, with
fresh vegetables shaped into the
letters of the word Freshies.

7. Are your mixes vegetarian?
No, the Bloody Mary mixes
contain anchovies. None of
the mixes contain any chicken or
beef base.

8. Are your mixes organic?
No, the ingredients, while
fresh, are not organic.
The costs associated with
organic vegetables and herbs
would be prohibitive for these
products.

9. What is the shelf life of
Freshies mixes?
Our Bloody Mary mixes are guaranteed with a
shelf life of 1 year un-opened.
All other mixes have a guaranteed self life of nine months un-opened. After opening a
bottle of mix and keeping it refrigerated, it is best to
consume our Bloody Mixes within 2 months and all other mixes within a month.
Please check the date stamp on
each bottle for the recommended
consume date.

10. Is there alcohol in your
mixes?
No, there is no alcohol in
Freshies mixes. It is a
virgin, and many people drink
Freshies mixes on its own as a
substitute for orange or
grapefruit juice in the morning.

11. Why do your mixes contain
so many ingredients?
These are the combinations that
the creators came up with as the
perfect, fresh, all-natural
gourmet cocktail mixes.
Just try one, and you'll agree
that It's the Goods!

12. Is there a lot of sodium
in the Bloody Mary mixes?
It
appears that the mix contains a
tremendous amount of the US RDA
of sodium. While the
product does use quite a bit of
celery salt, the numbers on the
nutritional analysis chart are
based on a 6oz serving.
Most people use about 4-5 ounces
per drink on average of our
product. (This means that
the bottle actually makes about
six 8oz Bloody Mary's.)
Comparatively, our mix uses less
salt than the majority of our
competitors. Tabasco, for
instance, has 58% US RDA per
serving!

13. Is the Bloody Mary mix
like tomato juice?
Actually, this mix is less of a
tomato juice than it is an
all-natural vegetable juice.
Many people compare it to a
spicy V-8, but we think that
ours is better than V-8.
When you take a sip of our mix,
you can taste the onion, garlic,
and horseradish. There is
much less tomato flavor than,
say, Mr. and Mrs. T's.

14. Are your Bloody Mary
mixes hot or spicy?
The heat is a subtle heat that
comes from fresh horseradish in
the Original mix.
In
the Habanero Hot, we use fresh
habanero mash. The
Habanero Hot won first place as
the Best Bloody Mary Mix at the
1999 Fiery Foods Show in
Albuquerque, NM. It rated
as the hottest mix in the
competition.
The Smooth-N-Mild does not
contain any horseradish, it has
only a little red pepper sauce
and black pepper to heat it up.
It has a smooth consistency,
making it a more "traditional"
Bloody Mary
15. Why isn't the Margarita
mix green like all the others?
All of the green mixes on the
shelves contain artificial
colorings (usually FD&C Yellow
or Blue). We do not
believe in artificial colorings,
additives, or preservatives.
The natural color of our mix is
a result of the blended juices
that we combine to come up with
the perfect margarita mix.
We do use ascorbic acid, more
commonly known as Vitamin C, to
maintain color consistency.

16. Your Margarita mix tastes
less syrupy than others, why?
Because our mixes use fresh lime
and lemon juices, they are
naturally tarter than our
competitors' mixes. We use
a little orange juice,
granulated cane sugar, and agave
nectar to sweeten them, but
these sweeteners are naturally
not as intense as high fructose
corn syrup or artificial sugars.
We believe in tasting the juice
for what it is: fresh and
all-natural. Many people
find that our mix will be
perfectly sweetened with the
addition of a little Cointreau
or Grand Marnier.

17. I love the
Margarita Lite, will there will
be additional low-carb mixes for
the sweeter cocktails?
We
currently do not have any
schedule for making additional
low-carb mixes.
There has
been talk of making any
additional low-carb recipes
available only through our
website.
18. How Long will Freshies last if refrigerated after opening?
Assuming the refrigerator is in working order, Freshies should last three to four weeks if refrigerated after opening and between uses
19. Is Freshies a publicly traded company?
No, Freshies is a privately held company and does not have any shares that can be purchased by the General Public.
20. Did you discontinue the Pina Colada Mix?
Yes, the Pina Colada mix was discontinued Summer 2006 and there are currently no plans to re-release.
21. When are the new rimming salts, sugars, and spices going to be available?
Fresh Rimz has been released as of April 1, 2007.
